When we found out that Kate Mara was a die-hard shoe-lover we set our sites on getting her to design a shoe for us -- and when she said yes, we swooned! Kate's style is elegant and effortless so it was no surprise that she took her time and was very thoughtful about the shoe she created. Loving the look of a pearl pink/ nude shoe, Kate designed a Pearl Pink patent pump with side-cut outs and a 5" heel and .5" platform.
"Ever since I can remember I've been a shoe lover, so I couldn't have been more excited when approached with the opportunity to design my own," say Kate. "When I learned that milk & honey would donate all the profits form this shoe to Uweza, it was a no-brainer for me. It's such a fun and creative way to get people familiar with charities they haven't heard of, and to hopefully become more involved with them in the future."
All the profits generated by the sale of the shoe will be donated to Uweza -- a humanitarian organization that fights the cycle of poverty in Kibera. They nurture and build upon the already existing capabilities and resourcefulness of Kenyans through community-based empowerment programs.
We loved working with Kate to design her shoe and were thrilled to be introduced to the amazing charitywork of Uweza.
