The Cannes Film Festival of 2012 is underway and has everyone talking including us. But we are mostly interested in the shoes! We like festivals that take place in the warmer like this one for a few reasons. We love to look longingly at the background and imagine ourselves relaxing in the beautiful south of France, but mostly because sometimes the celebs opt for shorter dresses, giving us a better look at their fabulous footwear. The trends include silk pumps, statement sandals, metallics and sparkle!
Below are some of our favorite looks. We added a Milk & Honey version of the trend next to some of them to give you some design your own shoes inspiration. Others we just like looking at!
Kirsten Dunst wore Charlotte Olympia Love Dolly platform pumps from the "Runaway Bride" collection with a Dolce and Gabanna dress. We love the basic pump made anything but with a metallic platform.
Diane Kruger stunned in a Prabal Gurung dress and Nicholas Kirkwood for Prabal Gurung (nice collab!) pumps. We love the look of the 4 ankle straps and the seriously embellished platform.
Nina Dobrev sparkled in a royal blue Elie Saab dress and Jimmy Choo"Lance" sandals. Silver is one of our favorite neutral but anything but boring colors this summer!
Mairon Cotillard looked amazing in a Dior chiffon and sequins dress. The gold belt gave it just enough edge not to look too sweet. And we really loved her yellow and patent and PVC (though aren't big fans of PVC) Versus pumps.
Anja Rubik look great in a silk jumpsuit and that's a pretty hard thing to achieve. We really loved her Giuseppe Zanotti pumps. Sparkle has made a huge comeback, we've experienced it first hand with a huge amount of interest in designing shoes with glitter.
Natasha Poly showed off her gold Gucci t-strap sandals embellished with gold chain and metal heel with a daring slit in her Gucci dress. We really like the t-strap combined with a separate ankle strap so you'll be seeing some styles like this from us soon. We may even add it to the shoe builder!
It's annoying that Eva Herzigova looks so great even in a pretty simple skirt and top, but amazing she looks. We love her Guiseppe Zanotti nude ant black patent pumps. Nude and black is one of our favorite combinations.
Not all of us can spend our time jetting off to events like the Cannes Film Festival but we can have great shoes. We hope we've given you some inspiration!
