I was recently in Berlin which is an AMAZING city! It's really beautiful and has an huge amount of history around every corner.  One of the most monumental things I got to see was remnants of the Berlin Wall, how cool?!

Ok, now let's focus on important things.  Shopping in Berlin is very cool. Lots of interesting shops featuring unique designers and vintage inspired looks. I mean, this is the OUTSIDE of one store:

SO, I was clearly expecting to see some amazing shoes. I guess I should have been forewarned given I was staying right next to the European headquarters of Etsy. I stopped by thinking these are exactly the kind of girls who would love our shoes, right? Well, I showed them mine and they said about my 3 inch heels, "oh my god, how do you walk in those?" I was clearly speechless given these are fairly low heels. I figured it was just a crafty girl thing. By the way, check out how cute they are sewing away!

We do love girls who are committed to creating their own fashion!

Anyway, what I found is that women in Berlin largely wear flats. They prefer the practicality given the fact that it's a walking city. Not only do they like flats, but they love their sneakers, and really colorful ones!

I have always admired the efficiency of the Germans and appreciate that it translates to shoe choices as well. However, I can't help but wonder if it isn't worth it to sacrifice practicality every now and again for the sake of amazing shoes :)
