It's Emmy night in Los Angeles and that means a few things - fabulous dresses, sweeping up-dos, lavish parties, and Jon Hamm gawking. We happen to think Jimmy Fallon crushed it -- loved the tone, loved the quips and loved the Springsteen number (our heart goes pitter patter). And while there were many amazing dresses (really ladies? EVERYONE in navy and eggplant?) and while there were some interesting hair choices (Kelly O. - love the new honey blonde, January J - like what you tried to do, but, um, you failed), we're here to talk about SHOES!
Now, the problem inevitably is: long gowns = covered shoes. And all those sure-to-be stunning stilettos hidden under those gowns just makes us sad. Sad for us, sad for the shoes. It's like being invited to the fanciest party in town and then being forced to stay in a closet all night. So while we're dying to know what shade Christina Hendricks was wearing under that lilac dress, we're stuck talking about the shoes we actually DID get peeks at.. without further ado...

Oh Rita. We love you. You're classy, you're accessible and your marriage to Tom is just inspiring. But your shoes? Oof. Too matchy-matchy and it really does look like a safety hazard.

We knew we could trust you Mindy Kaling! You love clothes and shopping and shoes as much as we do - we knew you wouldn't let this opportunity pass you by to try something a bit daring without compromising class. Love the tiny peep in the front of these shoes and you KNOW we love glitter...

We don't care how many Emmys you are nominated for, how many fantastic indies you star in, you'll always be our Felicity (and we'll always root for Ben). In the meantime, excellent work with the vintage gown and the gold strappy heels - elegant, youthful, fresh. Me loves.

Terri Seymour - we'll be honest. We don't really know who you are. And maybe you don't have a stylist yet, so maybe you had to put this outfit together by yourself in which case I apologize. But you did date Simon Cowell at one point, so there is some history of questionable decision making, but i digress. Back to these shoes. No. No to the cut, no to the color, no to the splotchiness.

Nina, Nina, Nina. You are gorgeous, you are a star, we love Vampire Diaries. But lady, your shoes don't fit. It's tough enough walking around in those 5" heels... wouldn't it be just lovely if your stylist picked them up in your size?

God Bless Betty White in sensible heels and hose. Age appropriate works both ways. Makes me want a slice of cheesecake and a little late-night chat with the girls.
