While we always look towards the Oscar's for ultimate glam and the Golden Globes for a little more fun, it's the MTV Movie Awards that give us the most fashion eye candy -- so many hits and catastrophic misses over the years. Speaking of our favorite gossip girls... Leighton Meester. I'm torn here. Love the dress, love the caramel color she's working with her hair and think overall Leighton (as always) delivers. But, BUT. I'm confused about the shoes... there is so much happening with the dress -- sequins! swirls! general hotness! -- that I might have liked to see a bit more of a simple shoe, but the shoes, on their own, are pretty spectacular, just not entirely convinced the combo works. Thoughts?
Alright fine, we should just do an all Gossip Girl edition... oh Vanessa from Brooklyn. It's a big night out! It's like a gala at the Empire, but you're in Hollywood and people will be calling Jessica all night. I'm not sure what's happening here, but that's just because looking at this jumpsuit is making me dizzy so I have to keep looking away... and I don't know if she's wearing shoes (or even if she has feet, to be honest), but I thought it deserved a shout out because it reminded me of the scene in THE SOUND OF MUSIC where Fraulein Maria makes cute clothes out of curtains... and if it's good enough for the von Trapp girls, it's good enough for Vanessa from Brooklyn.
Moving on from Gossip Girl but sticking with the CW for the moment... Amanda Bynes - Yikes. Cute girl, sweet face, killer dress, but those shoes... check please. I love the idea of the contrasting color (see: Blake Lively), but the tassels, the 80s mint green and the silly peep toe -- whatever, this isn't cutting it. From the ankles up? 9 (cool it on the extensions please). From ankle to toes? We'll give her a 2 - just because we like rewarding risk-taking...
We have a policy to never make fun of anyone under the age of 18, so all we'll say here, is kudos for you, Elle Fanning, for experimenting with multiple prints! Our suggestion for next time is to maybe try a bit of a lighter shoe. The super cute and age-appropriate jumper is light and gossamer, but these shoes feel a touch too clunky. But looking good, kiddo...

I don't know who you are, Crystal Reed, but love this dress shoe combo, so I'm going to IMBD you.... HOLY CRAP! You're on TEEN WOLF! My apologies that I can't watch this out of my love for Michael J. Fox and respect for my 12 year old self who loved this movie and just wanted to be like Boof. Anyway, you rocked these bright blue shoes. Good on you.
Hmmm - it's hard to take in Nikki Minaj's shoes when there is so much that is... um... drawing your attention elsewhere. I'm not in love with the ensemble, or the shoes truthfully, but they are a work of art and deserve a close up....
