I love an awards show... the red carpet... the fabulous up-dos... the extraordinary baubles... those trend-seting dresses... those tear-inducing acceptance speeches...  but the shoes!  THE SHOES!  With these floor length gowns how can we properly appreciate the sure-to-be-stunning 5" beauties on the feet of all these lovely ladies.  But we try.  We peek.  We squint.  We find those shoes!

One of the trends of the night are matchy-matchy shoes.  While I tend to consider that a lazy snooze-fest, let's give an honorable mention to those ladies who look lovely.

Now, on the notables...

Kaley Cuoco!  Nailed it!  Love it!  Gorgeous, elegant Romona Keveza dress, excellent darker hair color and semi-obsessed with the bright red clutch and the bright red shoes.  Smartly, it appears she's wearing the uber-trending grey nailpolish so as not to clash with her red accent color.  The shoes are a very on-trend silohette -- peep toe, platform, sky high.  Kaley added an elegant ankle strap.  Excellent work.  A+

Moving on....  Paz De Le Heuerta.  Oof.  If you didn't want to walk the red carpet, then next time, please don't.  This scowl is unacceptable!  You are on the RED CARPET on EMMY NIGHT and you look like you just had four tequila shots on a tanning bed and then let your 6 year old niece practice with her new curling iron on your hair.   I'm not sure if your dress is have ball gown/ half minidress or if you're just pulling the seam back, but the good news is that we get to see those shoes which are gorj.  Strappy, silver, unique.  From the ankle down, we love what you're doing.

Huge, and very long over-due night for Friday Night Lights.  Best show ever.  Had to get canceled to finally find the love.  Oh the cruel, cruel ways of Hollywood.  Connie Britton, who looks fantastic in this burnt red  dress almost knocks it out of the park with these strappy silver shoes.  Love the texture and love the color, but the dark blue nailpolish on her toes especially just seems out of place with her otherwise elegant ensemble.

Kiernana Shipka wins the Elle Fanning award for fashionista tween of the night.  Love the elegant, yet age appropriate frock and that lovely hair and makeup.  The shoes seem a bit severe and little high -- I might have paired this gossamer dress with something a bit strappier or open toed, but who cares?  You look gorgeous!

FRINGE's Anna Torv is so very close.  The architectural angles of her black dress totally work.  Her dark red lip works.  The lovely pink, large earrings work.  The silk navy blue shoes work.  Just not all together.  Wasn't sure I would have liked the blue shoes with the black dress, but ultimately I think they look fine.  But the blue, the pink , the red... to much, I say.   The pieces are great. The sum... a little less than.

We must now step down from our soapbox and get back to work.  But tell us, what were your favorite looks from the Emmys?
