It's probably obvious by now that our top priority at milk & honey is the quality of our shoes. Our mantra is something I learned from one of my first bosses -- the product is king (i.e., a great final product is the most important thing.)  That is why we use only the finest materials to create our shoes, including beautiful leather soles (below.)

And while leather soles are lovely and a mark of high quality shoes, they aren't always the most practical for those of us who live in "walking cities", especially those with uneven sidewalks, cobblestones, etc.  Having lived in NYC and Hong Kong my whole adult life (aside from a brief time in La La Land), I'm acutely aware of what can happen to your beautiful shoes as you walk for blocks on end, trek through snow, get stuck on cobblestones, etc.  And while we always want leather soles on our fancy, going out and general good shoes, I've always been intrigued by the concept of durable, rubber soles on everyday/work shoes. So we searched to find a leather sole that would actually make a difference in terms of durability and traction and not effect the look of the shoe from the top. We finally found one!  

We believe that when you design your own shoes, you should be able to get them as close to exactly what you want as possible. I mean, that's the point of custom shoes, right? So for those of you who face this same problem, we are considering making rubber soles an option! xo Ilissa
